Dr. Joshua M. Alpert
Dr. Alpert’s specialty is treating orthopedic sports injuries via minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques. Dr. Alpert grew up in Highland Park, Illinois and obtained an undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Illinois-Champaign. He earned his MD at the Chicago Medical School and completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center. During his sports medicine fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, he served as a team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Bruins.
While earning his undergraduate degree, Dr. Alpert was named to the University of Illinois’ Dean’s List multiple times. While in medical school, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Orthopedic Honorary Society and given the Dean’s Award.
Physician Assistant Joyce Wesner
Joyce Wesner joined Midwest Bone & Joint in 2018 with well over a decade of PA experience in the orthopedic field. She obtained her undergraduate degree in biology at Indiana University, followed by a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Midwestern University.
Joyce works in tandem with Dr. Alpert on the field at sporting events, in the office, and in a surgical setting. She is highly regarded by patients for her precise skill in performing ultrasound guided injections in the knees, shoulders, and hips.
Joyce lives in the area with her husband and three sons. When not working, she’s often found running, baking, or enjoying her sons’ soccer and lacrosse games. Her experience, training, and conscientious approach to patient care are a tremendous asset to Midwest Bone & Joint Institute.
Dr. Alpert’s Assistant Nikki Petty
Nikki Petty has been Dr. Alpert’s assistant since January 2012. She grew up in Elgin, IL. She is a CNA and has a certificate in phlebotomy. She received associates degrees in both Science and Art from Elgin Community College. Her main responsibilities are scheduling surgeries, obtaining prior authorizations for in-office and surgical procedures, and other administrative duties. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, and volunteering.
