
Joshua M. Alpert, MD | Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Alpert grew up in Highland Park, Illinois and obtained an undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Illinois-Champaign. He earned his MD at the Chicago Medical School and completed his residency at Rush University Medical Center. During his sports medicine fellowship at Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital, he served as a team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Bruins.
Dr. Alpert specializes in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, with a particular focus on minimally invasive treatment of the shoulder and knee. He also treats the elbow, wrist, hand, knee, foot, hip, and ankle. In addition, Dr. Alpert performs total and reverse shoulder replacements and works with PRP and stem cell therapy.
A lifelong athlete, Dr. Alpert’s foremost mission is to return his patients to the activities and sports they love.

Dr. Alpert is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM). He currently serves as a team physician for Judson University, Elgin High School, Larkin High School, and Dundee Crown High School as well as the Chicago Inferno Soccer Club.
In addition to treating patients with sports injuries, Dr. Alpert also commonly sees patients with work-related injuries to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, hip, ankle, and foot. He performs Independent Medical Examinations and is certified to perform Impairment Ratings as per the 6th Edition AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
